Did you know that you can invest in real estate with your IRA? A self-directed IRA is a type of traditional or Roth IRA, which means it allows you to save for retirement on a tax-advantaged basis and has the same IRA contribution limits. The difference between self-directed and other IRAs is solely the types of assets you own in the account.
Rental real estate is one of the assets allowed. You will need a Trustee or Custodian IRA Broker who specializes and manages these types of accounts. Once you find a custodian, you’ll open an account and contribute money to it, just as you would with any other IRA.The rental income generated is deposited back into your IRA account. There are rules to follow, of course, but this is an option of investment that many savvy investors are using.
